About Marjhani

Madame Marjhani –

This remarkable women has been teaching and performing Tribal Style Belly Dance for the past 9 years and has recently opened up “Madame Marjhani’s School of Dance” in Upland, Ca where she teaches both Traditional Tribal Improv and Dark Fusion. She also teaches workshops and vends for By Ro! Dancewear across the United States.

Marjhani first fell in love with the dance as a young lady when she stumbled upon her first tribal dancers on the Mulah’s stage at the Renaissance Faire in Devore, CA. She was completely hooked and after giving birth to her second child, Marjhani sought out a dance class and has been a dedicated dancer and member of the community ever since.

Marjhani spent 4 years directing a traditional re-enactment dance and music group named “Oojam/Oojahm Tribal Bellydance™” for the Original Renaissance Faire in Southern California from 2005-2008. “Oojam/Oojahm” also guest starred two years in a row at the “Age of Chivalry” Faire in Las Vegas, NV (2006-2007) and made appearances at “Coronaburg Faire” (2008) and Big Bear City Renaissance Faire (2005-2007). Oojahm has performed at various events including: Exotica (2009), The Bondage Ball (2007), The Las Vegas Belly Dance Intensive (2008), Festival of Dancing Colors (2008), Cairo Carnival(2008), VH1 Save the Music Concert (2007), History of Belly Dance (2007) and has been featured on “The Girls Next Door” and  “ Wealth TV” and “MTV”

Marjhani’s close connection with  the “Gothic” Scene since the late 1980’s and her passion for the music and the lifestyle has been a source of inspiration for her Dark Fusion dance style. She spent many years developing the fluid arm movements and pop-locking style she has become known for, in many well known clubs of the day such as: Helter Skelter, Stigmata, Das Bunker, Repent, Chamber, Club Skandal, Night Shift, Funeral and Club Metro.  She has grown through the ages with the “Scene” starting out as a Death Rocker, moving into the more romantic Ethereal Goth to find herself stomping around to Industrial music in the mid 90’s. Now she is a good conglomeration of all aspects of the “scene” with that belly dance “look” and “feel” thrown in. Whether you like her traditional style or the more edgy Dark Fusion, Marjhani will keep you wanting more!
